Payment processing during system outage

Given the system outage yesterday which took at least 1/3 of our business, i was wondering if there is a feature to accept manual payments should another system outage occur in future? 

 

Also, i wondered if Square would be considering reimbursing us in some way for the loss of sales - perhaps free transaction fees for a period of time or similar? Who would i contact to request this?
