A customer bought a few items in one Square transaction then brought 1 back later. Refund was given just for that item, but now the reports still show the full sale, and the inventory didn’t update correctly. Anyone ever run into this? What to do now??
Hi @ShawKim - I see this is your first post in the Square Community so I'd like to officially welcome you! 🎉👏 My name is Violet and I'm one of the Square Community Moderators. I'm happy to clear up some of the confusion surrounding Refunds.
The payment for the original transaction will still show as a Sale in your reports, but there will also be a line item in your Sales Summary for "Returns", which includes refunds. If the item's stock count still hasn't updated correctly after the refund, you can manually adjust the stock count by following the instructions listed here.
