To my knowledge Square has always used a copy of the customers emailed receipt as the order notification to the business owner. Earlier order notifications contained customer name and address info. They were sent from a Weebly server <[email protected]> with a Subject Line of (Order #1234... ) They contained fields labeled Billing information text and Customer Information text.
As of 6/27/2025 receipts no longer contain Customer billing and contact info. This seems to coincide with an "upgrade" to the receipts module that allows uploading a branding picture to the receipt? As of that date they are now being sent from a different server <[email protected]> with a new subject line of (Order #1234... placed by customer ) The Billing information text and Customer Information text field no longer exist on the new receipt format.
From the admin side, if you go to
Settings > Account & Settings > Payments > Receipts
Under: Home>Your Square account> Customize receipts > About customizing receipts: it still claims customer info can be customized, but there is no editing facility to do so, because there is no longer customer data?.
I have been in telephone contact with a Square CS Rep. On my system we verified, Under: Account and Settings> Notifications> Account> Email Notifications; the flags for Per Payment and Per Refund are set. I have also verified that the correct notification email addresses are set. No joy and no explanation of the issue.
We now have to go to the Admin backend and look at individual orders to find simple info like the customers name and address, making our accounting and telephone customer service very difficult.
I believe this must be a bug with the new receipt format by Square, so any help would be very much appreciated.
