Brecknell 6710u and Android phone with point of sale

I have a Brecknell 6710u and I currently power that using a power brick at mobile events. Works great except never been able to get it to tie to square. Has anyone successfully got Usb-A to USB -C to work or do you have to have a device that has has a USB-A that can come from that 9 pin port.  I just get the message, please connect scale through USB.  Thanks for any assistance.

Hi, @greenhenhouse !

Unfortunately, the Brecknell 6710U is not officially supported by Square at this time. Square’s Point of Sale only supports select USB scales, and they need to be directly integrated and officially supported to register weights in the POS app. The most commonly supported scale for Square is the CAS SW-RS (for Square Register and Stand via USB) or Bluetooth-enabled scales for Square for Retail on iOS.

Even with a USB-A to USB-C adapter, Square will not recognize unsupported scales, because:

  • Square’s app doesn’t include drivers for most USB-HID scales

  • Plugging in via adapter won’t force a handshake unless the scale is officially integrated

  • “Please connect scale through USB” means the device is physically connected, but Square doesn’t detect a valid supported scale

I hope this provides some clarity!

Did they quit supporting them?   I was hoping I could integrate it.   I was getting my info from here.  https://squareup.com/us/en/compatibility/accessories/scales

Let me look into this further. I know they can connect to the hardware, just unsure if it will connect directly to the POS.

Which if that is the case, that really wouldn't make any sense😂 I'm going to reach out to some engineers and see what they have to say.

Well hopefully in the future they get compatibility back for it.   I had purchased it due to the compatibility chart Square had for the Brecknell . Not a huge deal breaker to manually type in weights to POS. , just always looking to streamline.   Thanks for your time
