Online Sales Tax Issue

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: tax online

I have to change my sales tax rate and it calculates correctly in my POS, but if I send the payment link to a customer, no sales tax is charged.

All my settings in Sales Tax are marked "Automatically applied taxes"

I've followed all the online help to try to solve this.  One support article said:

Here’s how to check:

1. Log in to your Square Dashboard.

2. Go to Payments & Invoices > Payment Links > Settings > General.

3. Look for the option to enable sales tax for Payment Links and make sure it’s turned on.

I do not have have an option to enable sales tax for payment links in my payment links>settings>general

Please help - I need to send a link for payment that will correctly charge sales tax.

Hi @eghudak, thank you for your post!

I checked in with our Account Services team on this, and they said that this sounds like it is actually behaving an expected. The reason being is because the sales tax is calculated on the Square Online side and is determined by your address.

They recommended checking what address is listed on your account. If that tax does not apply, then we would need to confirm which specific link is having issues. Could you please check what address state is listed and let me know?

Feel feel free to send a Direct Message instead, if you prefer to keep that information private. I will keep an eye out for your response!
