Just purchased a Nokier G425G phone, my square reader (white Plastic bit) will not link to the new phone, just keeps telling me it is not supported, spoke to square and they say it is my phone, spoke to phone rep and they say it is square. Done all the usual reloaded app etc., the app works just not the reader. Can any one help with this please.
Hi @AliG, thanks for your post and @Twiggy for your support.
I can confirm that our support team are correct here - unfortunately the Nokia G425G is not listed as compatible device per our device compatibility page.
There are several thousand devices on the market, and we strive to support them all. In some cases, however, the device may meet all the requirements for compatibility but still doesn’t communicate properly with Square hardware or with the app.
While it does come with a higher transaction fee, you can still accept payments via the Point of Sale app without the Reader via manual card entry.
I hope this helps - please let me know if you have any questions.
How old is your reader? You can send in an old reader and they will issue a new one link is here - if under warranty and you send in cables etc
Thank you for your reply. The reader is a couple of years old. When I spoke to Square on the phone they seemed to think that i would have the same problem with a new reader, to be honest they were not very helpful which is a shame as I have had no other problems with them. I don't want to spend money on a new reader if I will have the same problem.
Not sure that will work as you already have an account - good luck
Thank you, I will have a look, the trouble is I still don't think it will work, the reader works on my old phone but not my new one, cannot use my old phone as the battery will no longer hold charge for very long, the app down loads fine but the phone will not talk to the little square reader.
