New additional fee on international credit cards

Square just announced an additional new fee of 1.5%  on all international credit cards.

I am a very small retailer located in a destination tourist resort, which means almost all of our transations are on international credit cards.

I did not sign up for additional charges of this nature.

We have been with Square since the beginning, but now going to have to investigate moving our retail POS and online store, to a new provider that does not charge international fees.

Really disappointed in Square.

Hi , @DeniseBastian

Thanks for bringing this feedback to the Square Community.

The new international card fee reflects higher processing costs from card networks and banks outside the U.S., but I know that doesn’t make it easier when it wasn’t something you originally signed up for.

I totally understand wanting to explore other options when it comes to what is best for your business.

Square would love to keep you, but we also understand that sometimes you have to do what's in your business' best interest.

Half of my customers are not UK based and I switched from PayPal to Square because the fee was more reasonable. Now they have increased the fees to 4% for me, I don’t think it’s viable to use square anymore!

Is there a way to pass this along to the customer? My client base travels a ton, so it's nearly impossible to vet every card and figure out what is going to incur a charge. Right on the heels of a 59% increase in the monthly fee, it's really a bad look in the CX department
