Anyone in Oklahoma dealing with implementation of the new Grocery Tax Laws going into effect next week? Just seeing if anyone has ideas of how this gets implemented in Square since tax will no longer be applied to some food/grocery items, but will still apply to prepared ready to eat food?
I am not in Oklahoma so I do not know that states laws.
What I would do because we have similar laws in PA.
Have a Category of :
Then export your Items or go through each item and apply the correct tax rate.
No tax for Food/grocery items and create a Tax at the Prepared Tax and assign that to items you prepare Ready to eat.
We do this with my candles are taxed and Clothing Candy and Fudge are not taxed here in Pa.
I hope that helps you out.
@ProduceGuy We have this in TN now. We set up a pre-packaged food tax rate and we have our non-food standard sales tax rate. It's on the business to know which goes to what items. The only pain is when creating new items, you have to make sure to only apply the correct one. I haven't had any problems online, because I don't sell the prepackaged stuff online, and I don't ship stuff. It wasn't a big deal once we got it set up, I have a harder time training my managers to remember to click the right one.
