New Filters in Item Library Not Working ?? (Dashboard)

Hello All.

 

Is anyone else noticing issues with the [new] filters that are available in the Item Library?

 

At the moment I see that selecting to filter by "Items with no sale price" does not work and instead seems to return everything...

I will not bother raising it to Support, as it will go nowhere and I honestly don't have the energy to be tied up with days of their mindless replies.

Hey @lennys26.  After I read your post, I went to my item library and added a sale price to one item.  Then tried the filters.  When I selected for it to display items WITH a sale price, it only showed that one item.  When I selected for it to display items WITHOUT a sale price, it displayed every item except the one with the sale price.  That’s exactly what it should do.  So, two things.

 

You didn’t say so, but I assume that some of your items have sale prices on them?  If not, then the filter SHOULD display all of your item library.  If you have verified that some of the items do have sale prices, then I would recommend resetting your browser.  Using your browser settings, clear the history and cache, and sign out of the Square Dashboard and close the browse.  Then reopen the browser and sign back in.  This will probably clear up any ghosts in your browser’s memory.

 

If it doesn’t work, then there is something wrong specifically in your account and you’ll have not choice but to call customer support so they can reproduce the problem and open a trouble ticket.  Honestly, I don’t understand all of these back-handed comments about support.  Any time I’ve called them, I’ve never had an issue getting my problem resolved.  And the times I couldn’t, it turned out that it was partially my fault for not being clear and respectful.  Trust me, I’ve had my moments and regretted those greatly.

Hi @TheRealChipA. Thanks for the detailed response.

 

I have also made some errors and with that, in reading your reply, it triggered me to rethink what I was seeing and I think that I am making the mistake here.

 

When I was looking at "sale price", I was interpreting it as a 'sale[s] price' and not a 'SALE price' (as in discount). So essentially I was misusing the filter "does not have sale price" thinking I was filtering on all items that had no price, or 'variable' as it appears in Squareland.

 

My hands are up. This was my mistake.

@lennys26 What can I say, other than we’ve all been there, done that, and burned a few t-shirts along the way! Ha.  Thanks for taking the time to come back and follow-up.  That will certainly help a future seller who finds themselves in the same boat.  Be well!

The on hand filter doesn't work. It excludes a big chunk of our library for no apparent reason. Lesson learned: don't bother exporting if you use any of the new filters -- the files may be either incomplete or corrupted.

Hey @mjmathias.  First, it’s not great policy or a good idea to “hijack” another thread.  This one turned out to be the OP’s error, but that may or not be the case for your issue.  So, please, always start a new thread unless you are offering advice or help to this one.  I’m going to flag a moderator to split your post and mine into another thread.  @_Violet 

 

That being said, your post is very light on details.  So far the sellers I’ve assisted with the new filters found out they were making an error of some kind.  It would help a lot if you would post a few screen shots showing your filters, and the results.  Also, giving a few items that you believe should have shown up, but didn’t, would also be helpful as a starting point.  Let’s see if we can either fix the problem or figure out where to go, if that is your intention.  If your intention was just a drive-by complaint, then there is no need to reply to me, obviously.
