When I plug in the outlet my iPad charges and it says it’s connected to the stand but the tap and dip for cards failed. How can I fix this?

The last time my stand did this, I upgraded iOS to the latest version. That, combined with logging out of my account on Square and a restart seemed to fix the problem. However, I helped another seller with the same issue and their stand wasn't fixed after the upgrade. They ended up calling into support and was able to get a warranty replacement for their stand.
