The square reader was fully charged and had four bars and when I went to sync it with my devices it kept saying failed to connect. I rebooted my tablet, I rebooted my phone, and I rebooted the chip reader multiple times and it would not connect to anything. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app on my devices. I turned my Bluetooth on and off. I told it to forget the Bluetooth and try to reconnect it and nothing would work for this to connect at the event. I ended up having to use the little magnetic strip reader for the day at the event.
I am very frustrated. How long are these devices supposed to last.
Hi @ButtercupBalm. First, I’m sorry to hear you had a frustrating event day. But, I’m glad you had a backup option!
Every reader I’ve had lasted for years. But of course there is no guarantee. Square warrants their products for one year from date of purchase. If you bought your reader less than a year ago, you can initiate a warranty claim here. Otherwise, it sounds like you have taken all of the recommended steps. As a last resort, get on the phone with the Customer Success Team and see if they can troubleshoot and maybe escalate your problem for further investigation.
I wish you well.
