I have been attempting to order a terminal for several days. After going through all the steps at checkout, entering my card information, reviewing and submitting the order, I am immediately returned to the payment screen. Every time.
I did manage to contact customer support; they recommended clearing my browser history or using incognito mode. Neither suggestion worked.
This is frustrating and doesn't inspire confidence in Square's platform.
NB: We have been using Square for several years, either with the magstripe reader or taking payments manually, so the problem is not with our account. Neither is the problem with our debit card.

Can you confirm what browser you are using? Also, were you logged into your account before placing the order?
Thank you for the response. Yes, I was logged in, and using the Chrome browser.
Update: Customer Support replied to my email (which included screenshots of the error message) with a recommendation to contact Customer Support and include screenshots.
I'm thinking this is not worth the trouble and I'd best try another platform.
