My Square Reader is not charging

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Cant charge my reader

 

First of all I have been stupid, bought my reader in October and plugged it in a couple of days ago!! Anyway, no lights, no charge, no nothing and the square team has gone home- anyone got any ideas apart from a refund/ replacement. Thank you

Hi @Heather51, I'm sorry to hear you ran into this! If you've tried all the steps @HC_Charlie suggested above and the reader is still not turning on or charging, it's best to get a replacement here

Hello @Heather51 and thanks for your question. I'm sorry you're having trouble with your reader. Can you tell me if you are seeing any lights come on when you push the power button? Different light color/combinations can indicate the status of the reader. 

 

You can also read this article here about setting up your reader. Maybe this may help. And maybe try another cable connection or outlet...just in case there is a bad connection from the reader to the power source?

Hello @Heather51 and thanks for your question. I'm sorry you're having trouble with your reader. Can you tell me if you are seeing any lights come on when you push the power button? Different light color/combinations can indicate the status of the reader. 

 

You can also read this article here about setting up your reader. Maybe this may help. And maybe try another cable connection or outlet...just in case there is a bad connection from the reader to the power source?

Hi HC-CHARLIE, thank you for your reply, there are no lights at all and I’ve tried every cable in the house, I did spend last night trouble shooting on square but they no avail 😭 worst thing is I bought it for today as I’m doing my first craft fair so I’m gutted

 

i do think it’s a dud and I’ve been unlucky and daft to have not looked at it sooner- too busy and trusting lol
