Moving a weebly hosted site but no access to owner/creator

My site was setup years ago and the creator has left me as an admin and disappeared without contact details.

I own the domain.

I asked weebly a couple of years back and they said transfer was not possible to me as they could not contact the creator/owner.

Now I have a new website built.

What am I supposed to do ? I do not have enough access to do anything.

Hi @cantusethisname, thanks for your post.

I'm sorry to hear this, it sounds frustrating and stressful.

It sounds like the best option here would be to create a new account in your own name and register a new domain altogether. \

Is the original domain still active? Do you know when it's set to expire?

Hi Breffini,

Thank you for answering.

Yes the original domain is still active, I have access to the domain and renewing it etc that is in my name. It's just weebly I do not have full access to, only as admin, hence not being able to transfer the site. This is where I'm confused what to do with the weebly site/hosting.

Hi @cantusethisname 👋

Can you post a link to the domain? Can you also clarify what you mean by being able to access the domain, and wanting to transfer the website?

Is the problem fixed? How did you manage to sort it as it would be great to share with the community? 😃

Hey @doc_choc, have you run into the same issue? If so, could you provide a little more information as to what happened? Would be happy to further investigate on my end!

Because I own the domain I was able to redirect the to the new website from the domain provider.

Weebly need to sort something out if a developer leaves you high and dry as an admin of a site.
