Modifier pop up for items on POS

A few years ago, while we were doing embroidery on the road, we had modifiers that would pop up when you selected an item. For example, someone would purchase a backpack, and when we entered that item, a box would appear. We could then select the thread color and font, and it would be printed right below the item.

Now, I need to add this feature to a couple of items on our POS system again, but I can’t seem to find it. Has it been removed or moved?

When you add the item, and scroll down on the edit screen, does it show your modifiers as you scroll towards the bottom? There should be an option to "add modifiers". An alternate way to do this is by going to: items-> modifiers, and either choosing your modifier set, or creating a new one, and then choosing "apply set" and selecting which items you would like that set added to.

Hope that helps?

I have found the modifiers, but after searching around it seems the modifiers only work on the website now, not the POS. I wonder if that changed when Square merged the POS and Online together?

Hey @rtfulk !

On your item edit screen on your dashboard, check to see if the line "Skip Item Details Screen" is selected. If it is, the POS will automatically add the item to the cart.

This has been a frustration of mine for a while: this setting is enabled by default when adding items. I wish there was a way for us to be user definable: I need my modifiers, I don't want to have to remember to deselect this with every new item.

This is what I'm wanting to do. We do custom engraved patches on caps for our new grandparent line. So when I scan a blank cap, which would be called custom cap, I want modifiers to appear. 1. that allows us to select the color of the cap, Black, Navy, Charcoal. 2. The name of the patch, Nana, Papa, Mimi...etc. and have it to print on the receipt under the custom cap line item.

About 4 years ago when we were doing embroidery on the road I had that set up and it was faster than turning on the notes and typing it in. I'm going to keep digging around and hopefully it has just been moved and not removed when the Online and POS merged.

@rtfulkI think the biggest challenge for you in this setup is that we still don't have text modifier support for point of sale purchases. So if someone wants a specific name on the cap that isn't in your preselected list, the only way I'm aware of is to use the Notes section on the item itself, not the entire ticket. That way it will print with the name. If you're only allowing predetermined names on the cap, modifiers will definitely solve this problem for you.

You can use text mods online however. It's one of those things that for me falls into the minor annoyance category.
