How do Square customers obtain these?

On ‎03–08–2022 08:40 AM, Square Community Moderator JJ_ said Square support can provide a Merchant Verification letter to customers who log into their account and go to this link.

When I tried this today, none of the Square support reps I spoke to by phone knew what a bank letter or Merchant Verification letter even was, let alone how to provide it. Unsurprisingly, the original community thread I linked to above is now locked to replies.

It sounds like you needed a Square Checking Account Ownership Letter, as opposed to a Merchant Verification Letter (which are typically issued for the purpose of obtaining a loan or license). 

For any Sellers who come across this thread, here's how to download your Square Checking Account Ownership Letter directly from the Square Dashboard:

1. Sign in to your online Square Dashboard and go to Banking.
2. Click the applicable business location.
3. Click on the gear icon and choose Checking Settings.
4. Scroll down to Documents to download your Account Ownership Letter.

I have a new client whose accounts payable department was unable to distinguish a Merchant Verification Letter from a Square Checking Account Ownership Letter as helpfully as you did. They ultimately accepted the Account Ownership Letter.

I'll be interested to see what @Cmathews's outcome is. You gave them the same advice I received elsewhere on these forums, but your support team had no idea what I was talking about when I requested a Merchant Verification Letter from multiple reps, including in the banking department.
