MX Records Not Updating

Hi, I recently transferred my domain to Square. I already have Google Workspace, and there is no option to link an existing Google Workspace account, only set up a new one. So after some Googling, it seems I need to update my mx records. I tried to update them as directed by Google to:

SMTP.GOOGLE.COM.

and/or;

Name/Host/Alias* Priority Value/Answer/Destination

Blank or @1ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Blank or @5ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Blank or @5ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Blank or @10ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Blank or @10ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

I even added the period after .com

Only every time I try to save, it doesn't tell me failed or anything. I wait the 72 hours like it told me to and no avail. Maybe because Google just tells you what to put in the priority and host boxes, not the points to? I don't know. My existing email address is [email protected] I am hoping to get it working again as quickly as possible. Thank you for any help you can give!

Hey there @SlapChop.  First, here is a link to the Square help documentation for setting up Google Workspace email with your Square website.  As you’ll see in the screenshot below, the “points to” field in your DNS must be your Google verification meta tag.  I hope that document helps you complete your task.  Just remember that after you’ve done all of this and it “sticks,” it could take up to 24 hours before the new information is propagated to servers and you start receiving emails.

What you have shown is if you set up your email through square. I already have a google workspace account and when I transferred my domain to square, my email broke. I need to be able to save my MX records and its not allowing me. This has been going on 4 months now and I'm about to throw in the towel and go somewhere else.

@SlapChop First, apologies for the delay.  I’ve been on vacation for the past 10 days and just getting around to my email inbox.  I’m going to have to tag a few Square moderators here.  One of them will need to consult with the eCom team to determine what is going on with your account.  There is no reason why this change should not be saved, from what I can see.

I have tried to update the contact info and waited for the email to reply and then update as support told me to and still nothing. I surely can not be the only one that this has happened to. If a big company transfers to square and their email goes down as a result of the domain change, then what is the fix????
