Item Descriptions Vanished from Estimates and Invoices

Why have the item descriptions vanished from estimates and invoices? They used to automatically be included. As a service provider, having the item descriptions on the estimates and invoices lets our customers know what is included. This used to be the way. Now we are fielding calls about "what is included?" from customers. Why was this removed and more importantly, how do we get it back to be automatically included in every estimate and invoice sent out?

Hi @WonderTent! I was curious about this as well because I couldn't find any options to toggle off/on the item descriptions on invoices and estimates settings. Then I realized it's actually controlled through the receipt settings. Here's how you do it: 

 

  1. Go to Account & Settings on your Dashboard
  2. Click Business Information
  3. Choose Receipts
  4. Turn on "Show item description" under the section for Items & Total
  5. Save your changes

This enables item descriptions for invoices, estimates, and receipts. I'm not sure why there isn't a separate setting for invoices and estimates, I guess if you want descriptions they'll have to appear on everything.

Thank you @londontea - this fixed the issue. Not sure why they changed it but glad we got the solution we needed.
