Is there anyway to add a physical gift card to an invoice

Is there anyway to add a physical gift card to an invoice so a customer can pay for it on line?  She wants me to actually send a hard card to her friend.

Hey @comptonwood.  I checked to be sure, and it looks like there is currently no way to add a physical gift card sale/activation to an invoice — at least not directly.  However, there might be a work-around using your POS.

You can add a physical gift card to a POS transaction as you normally would, which would involve scanning the card (or entering the card number) in order for it to be activated.  Then, when you go to pay/close the transaction, you could select the “Invoice” payment type, which would create an invoice to be sent to the customer.

One word of caution here.  I’m not sure if the card would be activated after the invoice is created or after the invoice is paid.  Most likely — based on what I know about Square, in general — it would be activated after the invoice is created, since the transaction is considered closed by the POS at this point.  This would mean that you might want for the invoice to be paid before actually mailing the physical card to her friend, just to be safe.
