Is there a way to stop the square app from defaulting to card payment?

We do a pretty even split of cash and card orders, and it's gotten annoying to back out of the card screen for every cash transaction. Does anyone know a way to change this as a setting?

Are you talking that blue screen or Tap to Pay where the system automatically assumes your customer is paying with a card? Yes, you can disable that screen!

 

On your device, go to More -> Settings -> Checkout -> Payment

On that screen you should see something like "1-Click checkout" or "Skip Payment type Selection" or similar right below the setting for "Skip Review Sale." Be sure that setting is disabled. You will then get a list of payment types instead of defaulting to the blue screen or tap to pay.
