Is there a way to add mulitple images to each variation of an item?

For instance, I am setting up a shop and want to add tshirts that come in different colors, each color has a different variation of the original design, and there is something printed on the front and back. I've figured out to add variations, label them with each color, but for some reason it only allows me to upload one image for each variation of the item. I want to show the front and back of each color of the shirt. Any help would be appreciated.

There are limitations as what one can do with Square's Online Website features.  One work around would be to split a photo that shows both the front and back.  Perhaps not the solution you would like but, sometimes we have to get creative.   Since there are quite a few more experienced Community Members here than myself, perhaps some other ideas might pop up.

Hello @alianna !

You can add multiple images to each variation, but you'll need to upload all the images you want to the Image Library (Dashboard -> Items -> Image Library) first. Once your images are loaded, head over to your item, scroll to the variations section, then click on that image icon just to the left of the variation name. Choose the Image Library tab, then click on each picture you want for that variation.

Now, here's were it gets iffy...

-If you use the "Order Online" template for your website (usually used for restaurants), your variation pictures will show as a link on each main item picture. Clicking on the "See x pictures" link will show all the pictures you've uploaded for that item regardless of variation.

For the "Shop Now" template (usually used for Retail), I'm going to have to guess on how it looks. Here is a screen shot from my friend @TCSlaguna 's site. If I'm reading the site correctly, all the images show up on the left column, and as your customer scrolls through the images the variation of the item changes to which variation matches the picture. I assume multiple picts per variation means the right column will stay on the variation linked to each picture.

So yes, you can have multiple images per variation, it'll just depend on how it's shown on the site. And no, the variation pictures aren't available to view on the in person point of sale.

The Chakra Shack site lists items the exact way I want to on my site, so how do I actually do it in the editor? For instance, there is a 7inch candle that has several types that show the picture as you select the item going across. That is perfect for many of my items as well. Where can I get help setting this up on my site. Thank you for posting all this information.

Hey Hey!

Thanks for the shoutout @ryanwanner

We have only one image per variation. You are absolutely correct:

As your customer scrolls through the images the variation of the item changes to which variation matches the picture.

But I did a test:

I added this banner to the Green Healing candle:

When you click the primary image, the variation name changes:

You see the banner at the very end.

When you click the secondary image (the banner), the variation name doesn't come up:

It remains on "Select one"

I just tried this. I spent 6 hours uploading images to my variations... all the images are now missing from the variations...

Hello @alianna 👋

I wasn't able to find a website associated with this Community profile.

Can you please share the URL for your website? That way, I can investigate and ask our ecommerce team to look into this issue as well.

Thank you.
