Install / Use Square KDS on Square Register

Is there a way to install Square KDS on a Square Register or utilise the Register as a KDS? The online reports seem conflicting.

Context:

We use a Square Register and Square Terminal as POS for day to day to use. Very occasionally (maybe three times a year) when we host events, we need a KDS. On these occasions, we don't need the Register as all orders are either through mobile ordering or using the Terminal. It would be great if we could temporarily use the Register as a KDS in this time, rather than purchasing an additional screen for very occasional use.

Thanks for your post!

While the Square Register does run on an Android based operating system, it would not be possible to install the KDS app on this device.

I appreciate that purchasing an additional display for occasional use may not be ideal. However, KDS would need to be installed on a compatible device that meets the following requirements:

• Has at least 3 GB of RAM

• Google Play Store enabled

• Running Android OS 9 or above
