Hi all, I am new to Square. i have downloaded the app to my phone and have completed the set up. My hardware is on the way. I have items and prices input, but I can't find a way to add shipping on my phone app. I see all sorts of instructions for other Square products but not for what I am using. If there is no shipping option, is there a work-around?
@Friswiz ;
I do not believe there is a way for Square on a Phone to Calculate shipping fees automatically for you.
What I have done is created an 'Item' called shipping and left the price blank. I then goto Pirate ship on my phone and get shipping rates to enter as the amount back in Square. So yes you can add a shipping fee but it is not easy and even adding shipping fees online can get complicated, at least for me. I have items that weigh less than a pound and other items that weigh about 5 lbs, but then the sizes of the boxes are also different, anywhere from a 6x6x8 to 14x14 and then 16x14x8-12-16 breakdown shipping boxes. So you would need every Size shipping box and all the weights of the box your shipping with your items and packing materials. So if you know all this or can get it quickly from your shipping connection (USPS, UPS, Fedex etc) you can just do like I have done and create the Item Shipping and leave the price field blank.
Option 2 is if you have a website that calculates the shipping etc for you, enter the data there and let it calculate and run the card there. Now if you website charges higher rates for credit card processing than in person like most will. I go into my website and either just run the card or on the website give the customer a 100% discount and run the card on the phone with square present Lower rates.
These are just a few work arounds I have used when I have customers call in and am using my Ipad so I can send a receipt by email or txt to my customer right away.

THANK YOU Keith! I tried a few other work arounds, but nothing worked as well as your suggestion! I will create an item as you suggested. Sometimes I provide a flat rate and other times I will use the exact postage amount after calculating it. Either way, I can plug that amount in as an item and include it in an invoice. This is a perfect solution for me. Thank you for taking time out of your day to answer my question. Continued success at Pocono Candle!
