I received Square reader and it does not fit my Samsung Galaxy S22 phone. There were no instructions with the reader. Although it said it was free I was still charged $10 and it does not fit in my phone.
Please advise.
HI @JenthePI
I'm honestly not sure why they are still sending out or even using these types of readers for "free" given the majority of phones that don't have headphone jacks. You can however check out some of these great suggestions here from JK in this thread.
Was the $10 charge related to the reader or separate?

Hello @JenthePI,
I see this is your first post, Welcome to the Square Champions! I am so happy you can be a part of the community! 😀🌟
As mentioned in the thread @Minion provided you would need to get an adapter, or we recommend looking into the Contactless chip reader.
If you have any more questions don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to getting to know you and helping your business!
I would call Square Support as you either ordered or they sent you the wrong adapter for your phone. The Lighteneing adapter is for the Iphone or Ipad. Now I am not sure what type of Charging port the Galaxy S22 has or if it has a Headset jack.
Here is a link to the Free reader and you can select Headset or Lightening connector. magstripe-reader
If your Android S22 has the c-port charging port you could get a C to Headphone adapter but you still have the wrong Mag reader for this adapter. usb-c-to-headset-jack-adapter
You may have to call support (Numbers in my signature line) and see if you can return and get the correct one. I am not sure what their policy is on this as I do not work for Square.
The free connections only work with the Magnetic strip on the back of a credit card. Some of the new phones offer Tap to pay. Where a customer can tap their credit card or a cell to your phone for you to accept payments. Here is more on this : 7960-get-started-with-tap-to-pay-on-android
Now there is one last form of payment that is the Dip, which is when a Credit card needs the little rectangular metal chip inserted. The only reader that can do that is the Bluetooth Contactless reader. This conects to your square app by blue tooth on your phone and can take the Tap or Dip style payments. Here is that card Reader : contactless-chip-reader
The most common forms of payments I receive are either the Tap or Dip style cards.
100% mixed up Headphone jack with a Lightning jack.haha /facepalm.
Appreciate your detailed response @Candlestore
Customer Service sent me the reader for IPhone. They do not have a reader which fits my phone so my option is to not use Square or upgrade and pay more money.
I think you need the Head phone one and the Galaxy S22 takes a C port charger. So you would have to add the $9 Square adapter that goes from the C port to Headphones.
This adapater from Square : usb-c-to-headset-jack-adapter
And then your phone should be able to use this reader : credit-card-reader with the android Headphone port.
Dan it happens to all of us lol
