Are you trying to download your inventory from the Square Online Overview page, or your Square Dashboard? Are you able to link a screenshot of what is happening on your screen? This will help me better pinpoint where the issue is coming from.
In the meantime, it definitely sounds like buggy behavior. Could you try the browser troubleshooting steps listed in this article? Sometimes the issue could be coming from the browser you are using.
