Sorry if this is not the correct group. I am unsure which group to choose for the following:\
We are a non-profit and have established ourselves as such with Square. We recently bought more than $1000 worth of equipment from them and we have been getting the run-around for over a month regarding our tax reimbursement. Every time we reach out, we get a different person who starts with the same formulary. Then they say someone will get back to us. No one does. We call again..repeating the same conversation. I have more than a dozen emails and several hours on the phone ... to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.
As I see this is your first post let me welcome you to the Square Sellers Forum.
Since this is a Tax related question and your looking for reimbursment for your purchase, can you clarify what your trying to get reimburst for? Even if your a non profit, I would think you need to pay taxes on items you use, I could be wrong. This is why I would give this to your accountant and have them look at it an most likely have your taxes reduced by that amount. Every so often I get charged Sales tax on items I buy for resale, give the receipt to my accountant and they work it off my taxes as an accidental payment of sales tax or something. I am not sure of the wording but there is another form they fill this out on. Square most likely will not be able to answer your Tax question because of your local and state laws differ from where Square (Block) is located. So my overall suggestion is talk to your Bookkeeper or accountant about this and see what they say for your local and state tax reporting.
Thank you for the tax suggestions. I am not looking for that.
As a nonprofit and we do not have to pay sales taxes on the equipment we buy. I am looking for help with Square, who says our account IS in order as a NFP (not for profit) but then simply does not follow through. We have reached out to speak with a supervisor and are told one will contact us within 24 hours. We have never heard from a supervisor!
I understand that but since Square messed up there and did charge you sales tax on the equipment that you use, you may not get the sales tax refunded and may have to go through your accountant to get it applied as less tax liability. Coming to this forum is only other Square users and a few moderators, but no one in here has the abilitty to look in your account and be able to get Square to call you. You would need to call Square Support again and before getting off the phone ask to speak to a surpervisor, instead of having one call you back because that has not happened yet.
Square policy said that they REIMBURSE taxes. not just allow us to not pay taxes. They sent the reimbursement forms etc but have yet to act on them. We have called Square many times. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told no one was available and one would call me back. I was told another time that my issue would be "escalated" and someone would call be back. Again, thanks for the suggestions.
