I know I sound like an idiot, but I can't find it anywhere in the manual. I just bought the 2nd generation chip reader and it doesn't say how to actually turn it off. I know it goes to sleep, but how do you actually just power it off?
Does your reader have tiny button (Power Button) on the back - if yes, you have to press down that button for several seconds - you should see the LEDs flash then go out.c
