How to recover from 404 error

Our site, which has been operating normally, suddenly crashed and now shows a 404 error, page not found. Activity was not heavy before the crash. No one was editing the site. We have no clue.

From what I can see, your site is up and running. I am not seeing a 404 error when I visit the site. 

If this happens again, my suggestion would be to try unpublishing and then republishing the site.
