How to change accepted credit cards

Is it possible to amend payment set up to not take AMEX for all payment types ie f2f, payment links etc

If it is, how do I do it please?

With Square (and most all processors like Square), that is not possible.  And, even if you could do that, if would not affect your processing rate.  Some payment methods (like AfterPay and CashApp) can be turned off.  But if we accept one card we accept all cards.  The whole point of services like Square is to allow us to take as many cards as possible for a flat processing fee and much less complexity.

Can you enlighten us on why you would want to stop taking Amex cards?

Thank you. I did suspect it wouldn't be possible. The issue here in UK is that the AMEX fees are a lot more than Visa, Mastercard etc. As a business we're not able to pass the charges onto to the customer if a person is paying us rather than B2B.

@FandF1 Ok.  I understand that.  But with Square you pay the same flat fee regardless, don't you?  It's actually Square that is eating the extra Amex costs -- not us.  It's not different in the UK for Square sellers, is it?  (Honestly, I'm very curious).

We send a lot of payment links and we are charged a bigger fee for AMEX transactions (2.5% compared to the standard 1.4%). Over the phone payments we can say we don't take AMEX but with payment links there's no control over the card our clients use.

Just got to suck it up!
