How do i set my business to be eligible for Afterpay?

I have 2 business using square to process payments.

They are both very similar yet 1 is able to accept Afterpay as a payment option and one is not.

How do I fix this?

The one that can accept has afterpay disabled as I don't want my customers choosing that option yet the one I *do* want to be able to utilise Afterpay cannot... weird!

Hi @royalepac, I'm just jumping in for @Arie here while they are out of the office. 👋

When visiting the link posted above, you can scroll down to 'Eligibility' and follow the link to the Afterpay Merchant Terms page. Here, you can view a more detailed breakdown of what businesses or business practices aren't supported by Afterpay at this time. If none of the listed categories or prohibited goods apply to your business at this time, we would recommend reaching out directly to our Support Team for further assistance in enabling Afterpay for your Square account.

The issue may be that you have been assigned an incorrect merchant category code which our team can adjust based on the information you provide them.

Should you run into any issues reaching out to our team, feel free to let us know.

Hi @royalepac,

Thanks for writing into the Seller Community with this question!

Whether an account is eligible for Afterpay is dependent a few different factors, including how your business is structured and what you sell. Your two accounts are set up as different business categories, which is why one of your accounts is eligible and the other isn't. Learn more about Afterpay eligibility here and reach out to our team if you'd like to clarify which business category you're set up as.

You can call support on 1800 760 137 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm Melbourne time), or contact us via online chat or email:

1. Sign in to your Square account

2. Head to our contact page https://squareup.com/help/au/en/contact

3. Click on any topic, then "I don't see my issue"

4. Click "Message us" or "Email us"

Or, if you see the new chatbot help flow, type "support" to bring up a list of contact methods.

Thanks. The guidelines say it needs to be an eligible business but doesn't actually detail what makes a business eligible.
