Has anyone had problems with a tax exemption rule not working recently

The tax exemption rules that I set up for certain items/categories have been working fine for several years but recently I have had a few items that met the criteria of a rule but still rang up on my POS register with taxes. Anyone encounter this issue recently?

Hi @Mitch6 ,

I have NOT seen this issue, and I'm running Square for Retail and Restaurant.   In order to trouble shoot, I'm wondering;

  • Can you export the affected price keys and verify in XLS that the tax column is set to "N"?
  • Can you share some screen shots of the item key setup?

Very strange.

I am strictly retail. I scan a barcode or type in a product name to ring it up on my POS. I don't know what you mean by price key. My system is set up to charge sales tax on all items by default so if I export my item library all items are set to "Y" in the taxes column. In the system settings there is a means to create rules to exclude sales tax on certain items or categories of items within a certain price range. These rules were/are intended to override the default tax setting at checkout.
