@scoutlady Have you tried to find an adapter for headphone jack to USB-C? I think there are plenty on Amazon. At this point, that’s your best option though you might find that buying/shipping one costs nearly as much as a contactless reader does.
Sorry I can’t be more help. As phone makers have discontinued the headphone jack, this is just one of many problems that have come up everywhere.
