I have several times received an alert on my phone warning that I need to reconnect to the internet within 86400 hours for offline payments to process. That is 3600 days -- almost 10 years. Pretty bizarre as I have never taken an offline payment and the maximum time to upload offline payments is supposedly 72 hours (https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7777-process-card-payments-with-offline-mode ). Anyone know what might be going on here?
This is an awesome fail. I know it is frustrationg, but I think when bugs like that pop up it is funny. I had a different app that was telling me i had -1,321,321,939 minutes to choose or I would time out.
I too have not taken offline payments, but haven't had this pop up yet for me. As long as you are sure you don't have an offline payment somehow in your system I wouldn't worry about it.
Sorry, no one has answered, but at least this doesn't appear to be a large issue. The staff at Square is in scramble mode after all the cuts to staff, so maybe my commenting again will bump it, and someone will see it.
While these notifications have been mostly amusing, it turned to annoying last night when my phone sounded the alert that there was a new notification at 9:59 pm -- just as I was about to fall asleep (in preparation for an early wake up this morning). That notification warned that the payments would expire in 21600 hours. But if 900 days was going to too soon for me to connect to the internet, not to worry because a short time ago another notification came setting the time back to 86400 hours.
And this despite the phone having been connected to the internet earlier in the day, at times by wifi and other times using cellular data.
I know that I can go to the phone's notifications setting to disable notifications from Square, but that seems drastic and something that would risk missing something actually important.
