Duplicate Checks - Square for Restaurants

Found a bug: Square Restaurant - bills
 

I have been noticing recently that bills don't seemed to disappear after the customer pays, they seem to duplicate.

 

I belive the issue is due to the staff memeber not fulling completing the transaction at the end and  pressed new sale button after the transaction is complete. If they don't press new sale the app freezes so you have to restart the app, the I check the floor plan and the tab is still there even though the same amount and the bill payment is showing complete in transactions.

 

So I have been voiding the duplicate bills.

Thanks for the post on this. Duplicate checks can sometimes occur when a check is open on multiple devices simultaneously, and is then updated or closed on one of them.

 

For instance, if an employee opens a check on one device, forgets to log out, then closes the check on another device, the check on the first device may remain open and therefore create a duplicate.


In order to prevent this, I’d recommend checking your router and wifi connectivity. A poor network connection can cause slower syncing across your devices. You’ll also want to make sure your employees log out of the app after each use to prevent checks from remaining open on multiple devices at once.


That being said, the app crashing when this occurs wouldn’t necessarily be expected. If you’ve just noticed this happening recently, or it looks to be happening with particular devices, it might be worth checking that your software, and the app itself are fully up-to-date across all devices.
