I am wondering what type of "paper" you have to help your staff when there are problems with a point of sale app or piece of equipment? I am working on refining my problem algorithm for my staff and wonder what you have or do so I can compare.
For our business, we use a written troubleshooting flowchart that outlines common issues with our POS system or the PC and equipment. It’s divided into sections like connectivity, hardware, and software, with clear step-by-step instructions for resolving each issue. We also include a checklist for when to escalate problems to tech support. Laminating the flowchart and keeping it near the POS has been a game-changer for quick staff reference.
@thomasbaum572 I have the laminator in my office, and there is no reason I can't do this also. I like flowcharts and anything that is easy for my people to follow. Where do you keep it at the register? under it/beside etc?
@Donnie-M We keep this alongside the register.
I just have a small notebook with a few things written in it.
Like if Power flashes,
Those are the biggest issues I usually have with Square Hardware
Because I like Backup for my devices, and power flashes happen here regularly, the biggest thing I have is I loose my Stores Wifi because of no power, but my Tablets Hotspot connects and messes up my Stands and also my Receipt Printer Cash Drawer.
@Candlestore Ok, I get the power issue with stands & printers. Have you thought about just buying a ups block for each register? so they never get the power flashes? I have a UPS on my wifi box just for this reason. I can lose everything else but if I got wifi I can still operate with the tablet's batteries.
I thought about the UPS back-ups but i would need probably like 5 or 6 of them with the size of my building and palcement of computers and stands plus the internet modem and routers to get signals to the tablets. Ususally my power flashes and does not stay off for extended time frames, but it is enough to get my devices to have the wrong address. I do have a Backup generator but the short power flashes are not even enough for that to kick on. By the time it goes to Kik on the power is back on. Welcome to remote mountain areas lol.
We use Trainual
I have every intention of doing this - and have had for the last 5 years - I am a call me when it breaks kind of guy and I'll walk you through the chaos. But I don't want to be lol
