Developer Options

I have been using the small Square device successfully for over 2 years, but suddenly last night it came up with 'Developer Options Not Supported... please disable Developer Options in order to use Square's Chip Reader'.  I have checked and Developer Options are disabled .. were never enabled, but still cannot get around this error????

Hey @neilwsearle,

To turn off developer options on your device, you may need to first activate it for the menu option to appear in your device Settings.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to Settings > Developer Options on your device.
2. Toggle Developer Options off.

If you can’t see the Developer Options menu:

1. Tap About Device.
2. Tap Build Number 7 times.
3. You will see a prompt on the screen indicating developer options are enabled.
4. Tap the back arrow to navigate back to Settings.
5. Tap Developer Options.
6. Toggle Developer Options off.

Note: if you use a Huawei device, you’ll also need to disable another setting on your device:

1. Navigate to Settings > Security & privacy > More Settings
2. Toggle off Allow Hisuite to use HDB.

This will disable Developer Options on your device. Please open the Square app and try to connect your reader again.
