Deducting VAT at checkout for overseas orders

I'm now VAT registered so i want to display the prices of my products including tax for UK customers so they don't get a shock at the checkout when VAT is applied. I can do this by checking the 'VAT included in item price' box, however the VAT is not deducted on order placed from people outside the UK. As far as i'm aware people outside the UK don't pay VAT on products, they'll incure their own import charges so it's really off putting if people are getting taxed twice.

Any ideas how i get round this?

Thanks

Hi @Patrick398, thanks for your post! From looking into this on my end, the only work around would be to change the price and have it so VAT is added and calculated at checkout. That way, the right VAT is added based on the region. You can also added a pop-up or banner to let customers know that shipping and taxes are calculated at checkout so they are aware of this.

I'll be sure to share your suggestions with the appropriate team as well.

Thanks for the reply. I think it would be useful to have the option to deduct VAT at checkout for overseas countries, so that UK customers see their price including VAT but maybe I’m being to anglo-centric
