DNS settings couldn't be changed or deleted

Hello,

I have a Weebly website and I am a paid user. I have tried multiple times to update my DNS settings, but no changes have been applied. I set the DMARC policy to "reject," which caused an issue with sending emails, and I tried to change it but could not.

Please help.

Regards,

Hi @Ahmadfh !

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with DNS records. DNS records can be tricky. I have listed some troubleshooting steps below.

Here are the steps to properly update your DNS settings in Weebly:

  1. Access DNS Settings:

    • Log into your Weebly account
    • Go to Settings > Domains
    • Select your domain
    • Click on "Advanced DNS Settings"
  2. Check Current Records:

    • Look for your existing DMARC record (should be a TXT record)
    • The host name should be: _dmarc.yourdomain.com
  3. Update DMARC Policy:

    • If you want to change from "reject" to a less strict policy, consider using:
      • p=none (monitoring mode - recommended to start with)
      • or p=quarantine (suspicious emails go to spam)
    • Full DMARC record example

If Changes Aren't Applying:

  1. Clear DNS Cache:

    • Clear your browser cache
    • On Windows, run ipconfig /flushdns in Command Prompt
    • On Mac, run sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder in Terminal
  2. Verify Changes:

    • Use a DNS lookup tool like MXToolbox to check if your changes are visible
    • Check multiple tools as different services might show different results during propagation
  3. If Still Not Working:

    • Contact your domain registrar to ensure there are no conflicts
    • Make sure you have the proper permissions to make DNS changes
    • Check if there are any pending domain transfers or other issues

Need Immediate Email Fix? If email functionality is critical and you need an immediate solution while waiting for DNS changes:

  1. Add a temporary DMARC record with p=none
  2. Implement proper SPF and DKIM records if not already in place
  3. Monitor email delivery through your email service provider

If you're still experiencing issues after trying these steps, please provide:

  • How long you've waited since making the changes
  • The exact DMARC record you're trying to set
  • Any error messages you're receiving
  • Your domain name (if you're comfortable sharing it)

This will help us provide more specific assistance for your situation. I'll look out for your response!

Thank you a lot, Summer. The current records are valid, but the reject policy is preventing me from sending messages. I cleared the DNS cache and attempted to update the DMARC policy, but the changes didn’t apply. My domain is registered with Weebly (portofinomarketing.com). My email is connected to my Weebly domain, but I bought it from Bluehost. I want to set DMARC to quarantine, and yes, I get error messages saying your email is undeliverable. My email is very important, as I have to communicate with clients.
