I have seen a number of postings about discounts going back for quite a time. I would like to apply a conditional discount to an invoice if it is paid by a certain date. Is this possible?

Currently, discounts set to apply "automatically" (based on rules like item category, quantity, or customer group) only work for standard transactions through the Point of Sale app, not Square Invoices. You must apply them manually on invoices.
That said, many sellers use a workaround by:
Adding a note to the invoice explaining an early payment discount, and
Manually issuing a partial refund or adjustment if the customer pays by the specified date.
