Checkout page has stopped working correctly

Our checkout page has stopped working correctly.

You can enter all your details on the page except there is no area to enter card payment details and the place order button is permanently disabled.

What is going on this is costing us business?

Hi Frida, it's definitely not my first time posting in the forum, Url is https://suzisplantbased.co.uk

We only open until 8pm so I'm closing orders now which means you won't be able to check anything, I've also written to the support team to get this rectified. Not the first time this has happened and it has been working fine so I imagine it's code updates again that haven't been properly tested causing the problem.

Hi @lettie16, sorry you're running into this. 

 

I just had a look at your online store and can see the red message: Our store is not currently accepting orders. Here is the thread with best answer about how to resolve this. I've also copied the steps below for you: 

 

  • Make sure Order Online is enabled on your website. You can check this by navigating to your Square Dashboard > Online Store > Settings > Checkout
  • Make sure items are in stock and have fulfilment methods applied to them
  • Unpublish and republish your site to make sure the site is fully secured

If everything has been set up and you still cannot take payments, please contact our Support team for further assistance.

Hi Emma

That is not the problem. I know the store is off and I know how to turn it on. We work limited hours so we only turn the store on at certain times. The problem was that on the checkout page the place order button was always disabled even after all fields had been completed. For this to just stop working would indicate code updates which haven't been checked correctly that have broken the functionality on the page. I should know I'm a web developer. I've just checked again this morning and it seems to be available again now so seems it has been fixed. Although I won't know for sure until someone places an order.

Update on this one. This seems to have been fixed to some degree. The card entry field is back and you can place an order. However I noticed that when entering the card details it enables the Place Order button before all the detail have been added so seems something is still not quite right there with the code logic. I shouldn't be able to Place an order if I haven't added the expiry date & sec code. It may throw an error if you press it but I didn't test that. May be the web devs need to have a look at it.

Thanks for the update @lettie16. I'm glad to hear the Place Order option is working.

 

If a customer clicks on Place order without filling the required fields, this should give an error asking to provide all the required information. I can report this to our team if there is an actual issue we can reproduce here. Sometimes it may be related to the browser. If you see that your customers are able to place an order without filling in required fields, please let me know and I can further look into it.
