Change my domain

I'm trying to change my domain from sweet-hugs.square.site to www.sweet-hugs.com. When I go to the domain section of my dashboard it doesn't let me remove the square.site subdomain. Please help.

sweet-hugs.square.site is your free Square subdomain, which cannot be removed entirely—it will always exist as a fallback. When you purchase or connect www.sweet-hugs.com, it becomes your primary domain, and customers will see it by default.

You do not need to remove the square.site subdomain; you simply need to set your custom domain as the primary.

How to Set www.sweet-hugs.com as Your Primary Domain

Purchase or Connect the Domain:

• If you haven’t yet:
• Go to Online > Website > Domains.
• Click “Get a Domain” (to purchase via Square) or “Connect Domain” (if purchased elsewhere).
• Follow prompts to connect www.sweet-hugs.com.

Assign Domain to Your Site:

• In the Domains section, click on www.sweet-hugs.com.
• Select “Assign to Site” and choose your current website.

Set as Primary Domain:

• Once connected, you will see both:
• sweet-hugs.square.site
• www.sweet-hugs.com
•  
• Click “Set as Primary Domain” next to www.sweet-hugs.com.

If “Set as Primary” Does Not Appear:

Ensure your domain is properly connected and verified:

• If purchased elsewhere, double-check DNS settings:
  
• A Record: Points to Square’s IP.
• CNAME: Points to your square.site domain.
• Give up to 48 hours for DNS propagation.
• Try using a different browser or Incognito mode to check if the option appears.
