Cash drawer does not open automatically when beginning or ending drawer for the day

When opening the register and logging in, the drawer used to open prior to confirming the starting amount in the drawer.  Also, when ending the drawer, I am asked to confirm the ending amount in the drawer without the drawer opening.  Is there a setting that would open the drawer before opening and closing the drawer?

@thevaultng I'm very sorry for the late reply! I'm looking into this for you now. Do you recall when the drawer opened exactly? I tested this myself and you're right the drawer only opens after you've confirm the amount you're putting into a new drawer, or after you've selected to close the drawer. I'm checking to see is this is expected - bear with me!

Just FYI, I'm using the Square Register system and my drawer doesn't open automatically when we press the Open Drawer button (like most everyone, we leave our drawer physically open overnight so robbers won't ruin it trying to get it open, only to find out we put the cash in a locked location.)  It always does open when we hit the End Drawer button.

Thank you @GlassJudy — that's a very good tip indeed. Hmm that's a bit strange that your drawer isn't opening when you tap Open Drawer. Have you tried troubleshooting your cash drawer?

@thevaultng I've just confirmed that the cash drawer is functioning as expected. But I think you make a good point. In an ideal world would you to have the option to do this (like with a specific setting) or for the drawer to open automatically at certain points when you're setting up/closing a drawer (maybe with a particular manager permission)? I can escalate your feedback to the team so please let me know!
