Cash Drawer Numbers and Balances

Greetings,

A Basic question:

I have $1,000 in the shop.  I put 500 in the actual cash drawer, leaving $500 out of the drawer and in the safe.

So, do you count the whole $1k as part of the cash drawer start/closed, etc.? or is this literally just what you put in the physical drawer.  We do tip payouts daily and it is possible to use the safe money if there isn't enough cash sales to cover the payout.  I trying to get the Square reports to be accurate.

Thanks,

Rick

Hi there, @DocksideFC 👋 Thanks for reaching out to us again here on the Seller Community! Good to hear from you again!

Based on the scenario you described, you would only start your drawer with $500 physically in the cash register, and not the $500 in the safe. Cash management will collect and reflect data of the funds that are actually in the drawer.

I hope that makes sense! Let me know if you have any clarifying questions.

Honestly, I think you could choose - the only thing would be that if you include the money in the safe when you start the drawer, you should also count it when you end the drawer.

If you transfer money in/out of the safe during the day, then I'd personally include it in the total as a reminder to count the safe money too when cashing out.
