Is anyone able to advise what’s going on with the % differences on the sales report? This is a screenshot from my Restaurants app comparing the current month to the previous month, the same numbers display in my Point of Sale app. From the looks of the horizontal time period bar (1D, 1W, 1M, 3M, 1Y) you can look at your numbers compared to either the previous x days, weeks, months preceding, or from the previous year.
For some reason instead of comparing my current month’s earnings (to date) to the total for the full month last year (I am comparing to the last year in this shot instead of the previous month), it is only comparing wherever I am currently up to in the month to the same time period in the same month the previous year (to day is the 20th of Jan, so it is comparing 1-20 Jan 2022 to 1-20 Jan 2021 and not to 1-31 Jan 2021.
I am not sure why when I use the date picker it doesn’t allow me to compare to the same time period in the previous year, however when I use the time period selector (1D, 1W, 1M, 3M, 1Y) to select a timeframe, it only compares to up until today, instead of against the whole month. I struggle to make sense of this for the 3M option for example - Am I comparing 1-20 Nov 2021 + 1-20 Dec 2021 + 1-20 Jan 2022 to 1-20 Nov 2020 + 1-20 Dec 2020 + 1-20 Jan 2021? Why would anyone do that? Or is it the full months, and if so, why isn’t it the full months for the 1M option, or the full week for the 1W option?
The reason this is an issue, is because no business can actually use this reporting to track performance against a month, just a time period within the month (and comparison to the full month isn’t possible until the very end of the month). If for example I had previously made a huge sale on the last day of the month, this reporting shows me as tracking positively until I hit that day, and then I will plummet down unless I make a comparably large sale on that day, or prior.
Can this please be changed? Or at least clearer filters or options to allow a full previous period comparison? We for example use it in our business to incentivise staff to aim for monthly goals like hitting 15% more than the same month in the previous year, however can’t do this as it is in no way clear the timeframe the numbers are actually calculated over. We can’t even get them to check themselves on a weekly basis to the previous week.
Hey there @artizansty 👋
I can see how this can be confusing to some sellers. Pretty much the goal of this data set is to show you how you did last January. But you make a valid point that it may lack when it comes to filtering and customizing it.
I will pass this feedback over to the respective product team for their visibility and evaluation. Thank you for sharing this feature request.
Thanks a lot @JJ_
