During these covid days of gradual reopening I want to use my Square Terminal located outside to take orders but have them print to the printer connected to my square stand inside the store (it's a standard square stand hardware kid with printer, cash drawer)
I set up a Printer Station on Square Stand where I attached the USB printer. That was fine.
But in Square Terminal when I look at printers I do not see the Printer Station on the Square Stand.
Both devices are on the same wifi network. I tried posing this to Square through email support several ago but nothing came back.
Thanks!
Hello @IceCreamStan,
Thank you for posting in the Seller Community.
Currently the Square Terminal and Square Stand do not have the capability to communicate between a shared USB printer. You would either have to connect and use an ethernet printer that prints over the wi-fi, or use a printer solely for the Terminal.
Please let me know if you have any other questions by replying to this thread.
Based on my requirements can you recommend a solution?
- Square Terminal outside to take orders and payment from the street and print out a customer receipt.
- Printer inside to print out the orders so the staff can prepare them
You are saying I need a wifi printer or ethernet printer to make this work?
Can you explain what you mean by "use a printer solely for the terminal" - can I have a printer inside the store for this? I have a Square Hub if that helps?
Hey @IceCreamStan,
Correct. For your setup, we recommend a wifi printer being that it runs off the wifi in your place of business, and can sync to your Terminal. You can then use the same Terminal to print a receipt for your customer then and there.
In regards to having a printer "solely for your terminal" I was referencing to purchasing a new printer dedicated for your Terminal.
