Can I use a 3rd party charging cable with Square Terminal?

Is there anything special about the charging cable for the Square Terminal or can I use any USB-C cable/charger (e.g. from my mobile phone) to charge the Terminal?

Hi @CactiKai - 

You can use a different USB-C charging cord with your Terminal, if needed. The only thing unique about ours it that it comes connected with the USB Hub. This would allow you to add the accessories to the Terminal (cash drawer, receipt printer, etc.)

Great question! You can purchase the cable only through our Square Shop for $39.

That is the hub, not the charging cable..    the hub still requires the charging cable to plug into it.

USB type-C is designed to be able to charge a device in either direction. 

Any USB type-C hub can also be a power source if a port is into a source etc.

look ahead, usb type C will be the future mostly as it is designed for high power devices and very high data rates.
