Can I enable tipping for services only and not prompt for tips for item sales?

We sell both retail items and services.  Tipping fatigue is real and we don't want to add to the nag for our clients for retail sales.  We do, however, want to add the option for tipping when they purchase a service and would like to give a little extra to the person that provided the service.  Is there a way to enable tipping for services but not item retail sales?

I would also like to know if there has been an update on this. I really don’t want to have to switch systems that I use but from what I have seen that the square team has suggested- it is unrealistic to have people using your platform do two separate transactions to prevent this.

I don’t understand why this can’t be a feature if they’re able to do 6% sale tax on retail only and not services.

Well, it's been over a year since the OG post so I'm guessing Square isn't going to do this. Which is a pity, given that it would be so easy to implement.
