Today on 9-9, my coupon codes are not working on my website. If I use the link provided in marketing it will be applied but cannot be added at checkout.

This is the error received
I have tried to test by making a new coupon, but right now all my online sites only work with a link which is no bueno.
Hey @Donnie-M,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’ll be happy to look into this further for you and work on getting it resolved.
To clarify the full coupon code is CCC?
@Donnie-M, I replied to your other thread but wanted to jump in here for further clarification.
The issue is that when a Square Marketing Campaign is generated, the promo code only applies if the customer uses the link directly from the email. Typing in the code manually at checkout will not work.
is that correct?
I'm having the same issue, and that is not the fix. I do not have any marketing campaigns. I have 8 different discount codes, one for a podcast, one for each of my employees as a "commission" tracker, and one as an employee discount. None of them are working online.
Hey @Tavern-Sports, Can you provide your website URL along with 1-2 of your coupon codes so we can investigate further?
I figured it out. Coupons have to be put in through the Marketing page now. Which if that’s the case, why even make it available on the dashboard? A very unnecessary change that made the website difficult to use, and I was given 0 notice as to when that change was made. An email at the very least would have been helpful.
Hey @Tavern-Sports,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. I understand how frustrating it can be to adapt to unexpected changes, especially without prior notice. Was there a notice in your Square Online Dashboard?
The adjustment to manage coupons through the Marketing page was implemented to streamline certain features, but I recognize that it is confusing. Your feedback is valuable, and I’ll be sure to pass it along to our team. I appreciate your patience, and if you need further assistance navigating the changes, I’m here to help.
I seem to also be having a problem with my coupon that I just activated. I set it up by clicking on the blue "Go to Square Marketing" button. Seemed to activate fine. But my customers are not able to use as it indicates the coupon code "does not match a valid coupon code or gift card". Can you help please?
Hey @Donnie-M,
I appreciate your patience. Does my reply above resolve this for you? If not please let me know.
@MayaP I did find where the coupons moved. Mine are working now, but at the time they just refused to work, as such, probably just a transient bug that either resolved itself or got resolved. I think this was triggered by the conversion for me. Thank you so much for looking into it.
Donnie
My understanding is that the new online coupons are working the way they are intended and that there is no bug. But the functionality is TERRIBLE and we should have been given warning about the change in what can and can't be offered as a deal. (We were warned that the function was going to move, NOT that it was going to get destroyed.)
So far I have encountered two big issues that must be changed in order for me to be able to keep using Square online:
1. We need to be able to discount ALL of the colors or sizes (variations) of an item without having to add them to the coupon individually (some of my products come in 50+ colors!).
2. We need to be able to offer a discount on an item and have it apply to the full quantity that the customer buys (not to just one of them). Sometimes the point of a discount is to get people to buy a lot of them so you can move them out!
I'm upset, my customers are emailing me about codes that no longer work, and I am having to break the bad news to them that deals we've always offered in the past can no longer be offered. This is frustrating and, frankly, embarrassing. It would be nice to get some feedback from Square acknowledging the bad spot they've put us in and telling us that they will change the functionality back to the way it was. So far they don't seem to care!
My coupon code input field has disappeared from my checkout. I am not sure if it is related to the switch to marketing but it seems it may be
I am currently having this issue! Did you ever get it resolved? What did you do?
Yes I did. I had accidentally ticked both the top two boxes in the section on how the coupon can be redeemed- limiting both how many times a customer can redeem and limiting the total number of times it could be redeemed to one.
So I cancelled the coupon (would make it so much easier if we could edit!) and set up another coupon code with the same name ticking off only the top box and limiting my customers to use only once. I also decided to change the percentage off to a fixed discount instead of a percentage off and activated it once more. And it worked!! So not sure what made the difference - ticking off just one of the boxes or changing it to a fixed discount.
Hope this makes sense. Let me know if it helps.
Still didn’t work for me. It’s not even showing a field for customers to input the code. So bummed
The problem is square. Square does not allow two coupons to be applied at once. I had automatic coupons activated so the free shipping coupon could not be applied.
thanks everyone.
I have a coupon set up and I have the same name in my marketing campaign but I can't save the marketing campaign as it says that code already exists - this is so confusing
It seems you can't have a coupon code the same code as your email marketing campaign?
