Bug Report with adding Missing Options

Anyone know why the Add Missing Options from an Option set would be Greyed out that you can not select it?

I have 18 Variations in an Option Set called Scents.  Some of my Scented candles were made before this was available.  I am trying to add just the Missing Variations from this Option set.  From a computer using Chrome > Items Library  I search for the Scent that has less than 18 Variations, Click Create Variations, and a Pop up appears, as seen below:

Top Selection Box says 

Create Method :

• Add Missing Option Value Combinations
• Enter Custom option Values

I just want to add the 7 that are mising out of the 18 for example.

I will have to add variations to about 165 different scents.

Hi again @Candlestore. So I heard back from our eCommerce team and they said that this appears to be a potential bug if there are options missing. I filed a ticket with our engineering team to take a look, so once I hear back from them as well, I will post back here promptly. Again, let us know if you notice any changes on your side.

Hi @Candlestore, I appreciate your patience as we looked into this!

Our engineering team took a look and this function is working as intended. They suggested adding the variations one by one through the "Create Variation" workflow, or you can add the option values that are missing to the item (see screenshots below).

You will still need to add these values one by one, but it will create the variations in bulk after that.

For context, when adding option set values to the item, you can choose to not add certain combinations (refer to the checkbox on the last image). This means that the option value is still attached to the item but a variation was not created with it. The "Add missing option value combinations" refers to where the option value is set on the item but the variation was not created yet. Because your items do not have the newer candle sizes attached to the item, the system does not detect any 'missing' variations. 

Our engineering team said they are going to reach out to our Design team, since the descriptions don't totally match the function and see if there is a way they are able to edit it for a more user-friendly experience, but the functions are working correctly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Well here we go again It is working as Intended by the engineers but not as Intended by end users.

The Image in my Original post show a Space I cannot select to Add missing items from the Option Set.  To me the end user, I would assume this meant that the software is checking to see which Options were made into Variations, Not just checking to see if the Initial creation was created by using the Option Set.  Problem with your Engineers method is when I created alot of items there was no way to use the Option Sets then.  There should be a Selection area then that says I can Create Options from the Option set and show ones that have no Variation of an identical name.  It is also confusing that the Add Missing Options check box is visable but not able to be used.  Again engineers think of ideas that have no actual function in the real world.

Hello again @Candlestore. Just heard from our engineering team again and they wanted to let you know that they have heard your concerns and have your feedback notated for our Design team for the next iteration of this feature.

The only available option is the previously stated process. They were wondering, what method did you choose when you were creating a lot of your items? As this may have affected why this option is not available.
