We’ve been converting a percentage of our sales to Bitcoin for about a month. Now that Square permits the acceptance of Bitcoin as payment from customers, we turned that feature on. We chose the option that Bitcoin remains Bitcoin and that they not be converted to US dollars.
When we process sales on our register, it does not show Bitcoin as a payment option at checkout.
We use the Square Register, Square Terminal, Square Handheld POS and Tap to Pay on iPhones with Square retail app. All devices and apps have had their software updated. We even restarted the devices to be sure.
Still, no option appears to pay with Bitcoin. Has anyone encountered this?
I prefer not to say we accept Bitcoin if we can’t process the payment yet. Even Square Customer Service seems confused why this isn’t working.
Thank you for any insight.
We do the same as you and we haven’t seen the option to accept bitcoin either. We are using the new handheld, so I don’t know if is available for it.
i do not think square has the crypto wallets required
so the app the customer uses takes it to the off ram (taxable) then converts and pays you out in cash ..
Did you go into the dashboard and enable Bitcoin as a form of payment? If I remember correctly you have to enable each form of payment you accept in order for it to show up at checkout
I did enable Bitcoin payments under Banking, Bitcoin. I chose the option to keep Bitcoin payments from revenue as Bitcoin (as opposed to immediately converting them to US dollars). Still no option to receive payments via Bitcoin at checkout.
There’s only 3 types of transactions that bitcoin is allowed for. Square Card payments, Cash App payments, and Invoice payments. At least that’s what I saw when reading the tutorial on setting it up
Here’s a link to the help article on how to enable bitcoin payments
